World Meditation Day Resources
Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a variety of techniques to achieve an emotionally calm and stable state. The benefits of meditation are well documented, and include:
-
subjective benefits such as relaxation and stress reduction;
-
physical benefits such as decreased heart rate, normalization of blood pressure, reduced stress hormones, and strengthened immunity;
-
Other scientific studies have found evidence that long term meditation may result in physical changes in the brain, measurably thickening certain brain regions.
